Cancer Screening Isn’t Difficult – Don’t Put it Off
Cancer Screening Isn’t Difficult – Don’t Put it Off
Learning that a friend in her 40s had colon cancer was devastating. Despite bravely fighting and even celebrating being cancer-free, the disease came back and took her far too soon—leaving behind her husband and two young sons. Her story reinforced for me just how ruthless colon cancer can be and why early detection matters. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in Nevada, yet it’s highly treatable when caught early. Unfortunately, over 31% of adults over 45 are behind on recommended screenings. New, less invasive options like the FDA-approved Shield blood test make it easier than ever to stay on track. I encourage everyone to prioritize cancer screenings—for yourself and those you love. Learn more at cancer.org or talk with your healthcare provider. Early detection saves lives. — Randi Thompson, Public Relations Consultant, Reno 10/10/2025 02:34 PM

Governor Lombardo Kicks Off Re-election Campaign with Rural Tour
Governor Joe Lombardo launched his 2026 re-election campaign with a tour of rural Nevada last week, making stops in Fallon, Lovelock, Winnemucca, Battle Mountain, and Elko. Joined by Nevada Republican Party Chairman Michael McDonald and State Comptroller Andy Matthews, Lombardo spoke about the importance of rural voices, voter engagement, and economic diversification. Highlighting achievements from his first term, Lombardo noted $5 billion in new investments, improvements in education rankings, and ongoing support for local policing and public safety. He emphasized the need for voter participation and said he remains committed to representing all corners of Nevada, not just urban centers. The governor’s rural campaign tour will continue through October with additional stops planned in northeastern and central Nevada communities. 10/09/2025 04:37 PM
