Street Fever Scenes

Street Fever Scenes
Arja (left) and Arvin Barr join their parents, Raman and Devinder Barr, at Lovelock’s annual Street Fever car show on Saturday. The Sacramento-area family, originally from Punjab, India, stopped in Lovelock while traveling to Yellowstone National Park and Canada and planned to participate in the city’s “Lock Your Love” tradition. Photo by Peggy Jones.

Visitors from near and far joined Lovelock residents for the annual Street Fever Show & Shine, a weekend-long celebration of classic cars and community.

The event began on Friday with an ice cream social at Temptations Restaurant. It continued through Sunday with Pershing County DARE breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday, raffle drawings, a poker walk, a cake walk, a sock hop and an awards presentation.

Along with the vehicles on display, the event offered plenty of opportunities for community connections and small-town fun.

First held in 2007, Street Fever remains one of Lovelock’s longest-running annual events. Favorable weather and the shade of Courthouse Park’s mature trees created a relaxed atmosphere for the weekend festivities.
