The Pershing County Mustangs softball team continued its strong start to the season last week, going 3–0 and extending its winning streak to five games.

The Mustangs opened league play Tuesday with a 23–4 road victory over North Tahoe in Tahoe City.

Pershing County hosted the Lakers again Saturday and recorded two more wins, both by scores of 17–2.

Avani Rosas led the Mustangs in the circle Saturday, recording 16 strikeouts while maintaining her composure throughout the game.

“Our girls did well today,” coach Jordan McKinney said. “Avani was great on the mound and kept her cool.”

Offensively, Jerzie Jones had a strong week at the plate and consistently delivered solid hits for the Mustangs.

“Jerzie has been a shining moment for us up at the plate,” McKinney said.

Lily Wagner also contributed several key hits during the week.

Behind the plate, Arya Garland anchored the defense.
