Candidate filing for the 2026 election cycle is now underway in Pershing County and across the state, with several local races already drawing interest as the filing period continues through 5 p.m. Friday, March 13.
Local offices up for election this year include positions on the Pershing County Commission, county constitutional offices, school and hospital district boards, conservation district seats, and Lovelock City Council.
So far, multiple candidates have filed for key county positions, including a three-way race developing for Pershing County Commissioner, Seat C. Candidates who have filed for that seat include Joe Crim Jr., Neil Gallagher, and Steve Cerini.
The County Clerk–Treasurer’s office has also drawn more than one candidate. Lacey Donaldson and Leonna Bianchi have both filed for the position.
Two candidates have filed for County Assessor, including Jennifer Hill and Sarah Renfroe.
Other county-level filings include Jerry Allen for Sheriff, Melanie Hamilton for County Recorder–Auditor, and Jeff Kearns for Public Administrator.
Several district boards have also seen early filings.
For the Pershing General Hospital District Board, candidates who have filed include Nicole Reitz, Marci Carruth, and Ted Bendure.
In the Lovelock Meadows Water District, Mark Pilon and Ryan Collins have filed for board seats.
Additional filings include Elizabeth Uhart for the Big Meadow Conservation District and Cindy Plummer for Pershing County School Board Trustee, Seat C.
At the city level, two candidates have filed so far for the Lovelock City Council. Incumbent Bonnie Skoglie has filed for Seat B, while Misty Moepono-Wood has filed for Seat C. Current councilmember Jordan McKinney has indicated she will not seek re-election.
Candidate filing opened March 2 and continues through March 13. Local offices are filed through the Pershing County Clerk’s Office, while statewide and multi-district offices are filed through the Nevada Secretary of State.
The Primary Election is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9, with the General Election set for Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Additional candidates may still file before the deadline, meaning several races could see further competition before the filing period closes.
The Pershing Post will publish a full candidate roundup once filing officially closes later this week.
