PCMS Missing Assignments

PCMS Missing Assignments

On Feb. 19, Pershing County Middle School (PCMS) sent a message to parents regarding high quantities of missing assignments. According to the middle school, “The staff at PCMS is very concerned about the number of missing assignments.” Because of this, new procedures will be implemented in all classrooms at the school.

The updated late work policy states, “For every day an assignment is late, 25% will be deducted, continuing until the assignment reaches zero.” Along with this, once an assignment reaches zero, it can no longer be made up.

Additionally, teachers will call parents once a student has two missing assignments in a class. Staff reminded parents that lunchtime and after school help is available if needed, and students are encouraged to use this time to their advantage. Students will not be reminded to go to these help sessions and are responsible for going on their own accord.

According to Principal Shea Murphy, “Upon my return, I will be scheduling meetings with parents to discuss student growth as well as responsibility in their education.”

To make an appointment, parents may call Lisa at (775) 273-1200.
