Frances Ann (Pedlar) Gandiaga

Frances Ann (Pedlar) Gandiaga, 94, of Lovelock, passed away February 1, 2026, at Pershing General Nursing Home.

She was born July 22, 1931, in Carlin, Nevada, to Frank and Theresa Pedlar. A lifelong Nevadan, she lived in and attended schools in Lovelock, Beowawe, Carlin, and Fallon. She met her husband, Martin Gandiaga, in Lovelock, and they were married December 17, 1949. During their 53 years of marriage, they welcomed two children and later two grandchildren.

Frances, affectionately known as “Nana,” was a homemaker. She also worked as a waitress at the Sun Café in Lovelock, a maid at the Brookwood Motel in Lovelock, and as an assistant cook at the Pershing County Senior Center. She was an active 4-H leader for her children and grandchildren, leading the Outdoor Cookery, Breads, and Crocheting clubs.

She enjoyed many hobbies, especially crocheting afghans, baby blankets, hats, headbands, and sweaters. She spent many hours at the Pershing County Library, either checking out books or visiting with friends. She loved to bake, especially during the holidays, and was always eager to try (and critique) a recipe.

She is survived by her son, Joe Gandiaga, of Winnemucca; her daughter, Rene Childs (Don), of Lovelock; her granddaughter, Neetra Emard (Torin), of Reno; her grandson, Alec Childs (Brianna), of Lovelock; her great-granddaughters, Eilidh and Isla Emard of Reno; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Pedlar, and stepmother, Eva Pedlar; her mother, Theresa Merica, and stepfather, Ross Merica; her husband, Martin Gandiaga; her sister, Eunice Tumin; and her daughter-in-law, Marlene Gandiaga.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Lovelock, followed by a luncheon reception at the Catholic Hall.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Pershing General Nursing Home and Pershing General Hospital for their kindness and care.
