Junior Mustang Wrestling Season Gears Up

Junior Mustang Wrestling Season Gears Up

The Lovelock Junior Mustang Wrestling program will begin its 2025–26 season on Monday, Jan. 26, offering young athletes an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of wrestling in a supportive, community-based environment.

The local recreational program is designed for wrestlers who are new to the sport as well as those who want to continue developing their skills. Coaches said the focus of the Junior Mustang program is on personal growth, discipline, and building confidence while introducing participants to the sport of wrestling.

Practices will be held Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the wrestling room. The program will run for five weeks, with practices lasting no longer than one hour. Parents are asked to be prompt with drop-off and pickup times.

Registration costs $25 per wrestler, and athletes may sign up on the first night of practice or at any subsequent session. Wrestlers should arrive dressed in shorts and a T-shirt and ready to participate the evening they register.

Coaches said the program is intended to create a positive atmosphere that supports athletes of all experience levels, helping them develop both as wrestlers and as individuals.

The season will conclude with an end-of-season tournament held in conjunction with the middle school wrestling tournament, scheduled for either Thursday, Feb. 26, or Friday, Feb. 27. Additional details will be announced as the event approaches.

The Junior Mustang Wrestling coaches said they are looking forward to another strong season and welcoming new and returning wrestlers to the mat.
