Nevada Predator Hunting Association is sponsoring a day-hunt-only coyote contest on Saturday, Feb. 28, offering an option for hunters who prefer traditional daylight hunting rather than night hunting.
The contest will run from sunrise to sunset, with Crazy Corners Saloon serving as the host location in Lovelock. The format will be based on “most dogs wins,” reflecting the daytime-only structure of the event.
Organizers said stricter rules will be enforced to ensure a fair hunt, including measures to prevent the use of thermal equipment prior to sunrise. All participants are required to use a mandatory remote start, and there will be no in-person rules meeting held the day before or the morning of the hunt. Instead, rules will be emailed to participants in advance.
The contest password and special video submission instructions will be sent by text message shortly before sunrise on the day of the event. Sign-ups close Wednesday, Feb. 26.
Entry fees and optional side pots will be available, including categories for big male, big female, small dog, lucky loser, most dogs, and a Calcutta. Payouts will award 80 percent to winners, with 20 percent benefiting Nevada NPHA.
Hunters interested in participating or requesting a remote start form can email [email protected] or call 775-835-5830 for more information.
