Mustang Students Recognized for Leadership, Growth and Daily Excellence

Pershing County High School recognized several students this month for their dedication, leadership, and commitment to Mustang pride through its January Student of the Month and On a Roll honors.

Thomas Brooks was named Student of the Month for consistently coming to class prepared, respectful, and ready to learn. Teachers noted Brooks’ positive attitude and strong work ethic, highlighting his willingness to help classmates and contribute to a welcoming classroom environment. His diligence and steady effort were praised as an example of what it means to represent Mustang pride every day.

Also receiving Student of the Month recognition was Marie Wadsworth, who was commended for her growth and involvement during the school year. Teachers described Wadsworth as dependable and helpful, noting her willingness to step outside her comfort zone by participating more actively in school activities. Her progress and enthusiasm were cited as a reflection of her commitment to personal growth and school spirit.

The On a Roll Student honor went to Jaxson Happy, recognized for his consistent engagement, curiosity, and leadership in the classroom. Described as open, positive, and eager to learn, Happy regularly asks thoughtful questions and supports fellow students. Teachers noted his strong work ethic, preparedness, and respect for peers and staff, calling him a unifying presence on campus and a model of Mustang pride.

School staff emphasized that these recognitions are meant to highlight not just academic achievement, but the everyday behaviors that help build a positive, supportive school culture.
