The Lovelock Animal Shelter has announced a temporary pause on dog intake after reaching full capacity.
Shelter officials said they are currently caring for more animals than ever before, while adoptions have slowed and the number of pets left without homes has increased. To ensure the animals already in their care continue to receive proper attention and resources, the shelter is temporarily unable to accept additional dogs.
The shelter is asking for the community’s understanding and support during this time and encourages residents to explore responsible alternatives before surrendering or abandoning an animal.
Community members with questions or who need assistance are encouraged to contact the Lovelock Animal Shelter at 775-273-7297. Updates on intake status and adoption opportunities will be shared as space becomes available.
Shelter officials said continued community support through adoption, fostering, or sharing information remains essential as they work through this challenging period.
