The Boys & Girls Club helped make the holiday a little warmer for Pershing County families this year, providing 50 Thanksgiving meal kits to Club households and others across the school district. The effort was designed to support families not just with food, staff said, but with the chance to cook together, share traditions, and build memories around their own table.
“Meal kits do more than fill plates,” a representative of the Club noted in a social media post. “They bring people together.” Each kit included the essentials for a home-cooked Thanksgiving meal, allowing families to celebrate in their own kitchens and on their own terms.
The Club extended a special thank-you to Florida Canyon Mine for sponsoring the project and helping ensure more families enjoyed a meaningful holiday. The contribution covered the cost of the meal kits and allowed the distribution to reach farther across the community.
For Club leadership, the project reflects what the organization sees every day: neighbors looking out for neighbors. “This is what community looks like,” staff said.
The Boys & Girls Club continues to offer youth programs, meals, and family support throughout the year. Those interested in helping or learning more about upcoming efforts can contact the Club for details.
