Lovelock Gears Up for a Full Day of Christmas Cheer on December 6

Lovelock Gears Up for a Full Day of Christmas Cheer on December 6

Pershing County is getting ready to flip the switch on the Christmas season, and Dec. 6 is shaping up to be one of the most festive days of the year in Lovelock. From a packed-house craft fair to the annual Parade of Lights, local families will have plenty to enjoy throughout the day.

The Friends of the Pershing County Library confirmed this week that every vendor space for the annual Christmas Craft Fair is officially full. The fair will run Saturday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pershing County Community Center.

Diane Drake said shoppers can expect a wide variety of handcrafted items, including quilts, pillows, jewelry, woodwork, specialty bags, Christmas stockings, and home décor perfect for gift-giving. “The Community Center is the place to shop,” she said, thanking the community for supporting the library’s expanding programs and events throughout the year.

Santa will make a special appearance from 10 a.m. to noon, arriving on the Lovelock Volunteer Fire Department’s fire truck at 10 a.m. Families are welcome to take their own photos.

After the craft fair, residents are encouraged to shop local as businesses around town roll out seasonal specials leading into the evening celebration.

The day will end with the Lovelock Parade of Lights, which begins at 6:15 p.m. Parade lineup starts at 5:15 p.m. in front of the Community Center, with staging entry from Western Avenue before turning onto Jamestown. Cash prizes will be awarded: $200 for first place, $150 for second, and $100 for third. Parade applications are available at Temptations.

Following the parade, families can visit Santa again behind Temptations and enjoy a s’mores bar and hot chocolate to wrap up the evening.

Organizers say the combination of the craft fair, local shopping, and the nighttime parade offers exactly what small-town communities do best: a full day of holiday spirit.
