The night began with a special ceremony honoring the Mustang seniors and their families, a moment of pride before the team took the field for one of their strongest performances of the season.
Senior quarterback Ayden Montes led the charge for Pershing County, rushing for 94 yards and two touchdowns and adding another score through the air. Montes also played both sides of the ball, picking up a sack, making seven tackles, and breaking up a pass.
The Mustangs’ defense came out strong, holding Battle Mountain to just 13 points and keeping the Longhorns out of rhythm for most of the game.
The win improved Pershing County’s record to 8–1 overall and 4–0 in league play, marking their fourth straight victory. Battle Mountain dropped to 6–2 and 4–1 in the league.
With momentum building, the Mustangs will wrap up the regular season on the road against West Wendover on Thursday at 5 p.m. Fans can expect another strong offensive showing as Pershing County looks to carry their winning streak into the postseason.
