During the event, volunteer firefighters shared tips that could help students in life-or-death situations. They covered what to do in case of a fire, demonstrated how to use a fire extinguisher, and showed the different types of firefighting and medical equipment. Students also learned about Narcan and how it can be used in emergencies.
Afterward, students toured the fire trucks, exploring the various buttons and tools on board, and took turns operating the sirens and horns.
Volunteer firefighter Samantha Montes said the department looks forward to Fire Safety Day each year. “It makes us happy to be involved with the school and educate these kids,” she said.
