The Pershing County Middle School Lady Colts proved that heart, hustle, and teamwork still
matter most in basketball. The 7th and 8th grade girls brought home the Sagebrush League, Lake
Division championship, topping Pyramid Lake 33–22 in the final game at the Pershing County
High School Big Gym.
Their coaches and fans couldn’t be prouder. “To say we’re proud would be an understatement,”
said the coaching staff. “These girls fought hard and showed incredible resilience all season
long.”
In addition to the championship win, both the 7th and 8th grade teams earned special recognition
from their peers, each was voted by other schools as the team showing the best sportsmanship in
the league.
The Lady Colts’ success reflects more than just skill on the court. It’s a testament to their
determination, teamwork, and positive attitude through a competitive season.
Coaches Lee Houston, Damien McKinney, and Sarah Haynie led the squad through the year,
with every player contributing to the team’s spirit and success.
