The Pershing County 4-H program reported a busy season of youth accomplishments and
upcoming activities.
Extension Coordinator Kristin Burr told county commissioners at their regular meeting last week
that local 4-H members earned 60 blue ribbons at the State 4-H Expo in Fallon across
photography, engineering, agriculture, fine arts, educational displays and woodworking. One
member also showed livestock.
Youth from Pershing County also helped craft ornaments headed for Washington, D.C. as part of
Nevada’s role in providing the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree. Some ornaments will also be
displayed at the USDA office in Reno.
Closer to home, the Imlay Community Club is tending new garden beds, while woodworking
members completed wildlife bat boxes, finished with a custom 4-H brand created by a club
leader.
The Extension office noted fall reporting and staff training are underway. The local office will be
closed Monday, Oct. 6 for required active-shooter training through the university.
