The Pershing County Mustangs hosted the Oasis Academy Bighorns last week for a pair of
league volleyball matches that kept fans on their feet from start to finish.
The JV squads took the court first, and the Mustangs came out firing, dominating the opening set
25-14. Oasis regrouped in the second set and charged back with a 25-22 win to even the score.
The decisive third set stayed close early, but the Bighorns found a rhythm late and closed it out
15-8, taking the match two sets to one.
The Varsity matchup flipped the script. Pershing County started strong, jumping ahead early and
cruising to a 25-15 first-set victory. The Bighorns showed some spark in the second, pushing
rallies deep but ultimately falling 25-19.
The third set was a back-and-forth battle — tied at 17 at one point — before the Mustangs pulled
away behind steady serves and strong net play to clinch the set 25-19 and sweep the match in
three straight.
The win keeps Pershing County’s momentum rolling as the team continues league play through
October.
