A single vehicle accident on June 16 took the life of a motorcyclist on State Route 290 in Humboldt County, about 37 miles northeast of Winnemucca.
Preliminary investigation from the Nevada Department of Public Safety determined that a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling north on SR-290. The rider failed to safely negotiate a curve, causing the motorcycle to drive across the southbound travel lane, drive off the left side of the road into the dirt shoulder. The motorcycle overturned and the rider was ejected from the motorcycle.
Unfortunately, the rider, Samual Huber, age 34, of Battle Mountain, sustained fatal injuries during the crash and was flown from the scene. He later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The crash is considered an open investigation and is being investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit.
To date, the Nevada Highway Patrol, Region Three has investigated nine fatal crashes resulting in ten fatalities in so far this year.
