What started as a chilly morning in Imlay quickly turned into a warm and wonderful day for neighbors and families gathered at the Little Nevada Imlay Store for a barbecue celebration that brought out the best of small-town summer.
The community came out in full force, and the event was a huge success. From the smell of barbecue to the splash of kids diving into the bounce house pool, the day was packed with fun.
Travis de la Vega reeled in bragging rights and the Big Fish Award with his impressive 14 lb. 8 oz. catfish, earning him a $50 store credit and a brand-new fishing pole. Aliana Queen pedaled home with the trophy for Best Bike and a $20 store credit, while Junior Lacy took home the top honor of the day, the Best in Show trophy at the car show.
Hosts Joanie and the team gave a big thank you to everyone who came out, especially those who brought side dishes to share. A special shoutout went to Marcus and Thomas, who manned the grill and kept the food coming hot.
Once the weather warmed up, the bounce house and kiddie pool were the place to be, even if the water was a bit brisk. “We’ve got some crazy kids in this town,” Joanie joked. “That water had to have been cold, but they all had fun.”
With a successful day in the books, the Imlay crew is already planning their next big event: a Rib Cookoff coming this September. “Break out your smokers and your barbecues,” Joanie said. “We’ll announce the exact date and time soon!”
Stay tuned and hats off to everyone who made the day such a hit.
