Emergency crews responded to a serious accident on Interstate 80 near mile marker 110 on the morning of June 17, involving a Toyota RAV4 carrying three people and a family dog.
Pershing County dispatch began receiving multiple 911 calls around 8:04 a.m. reporting the crash in the westbound lanes. Sheriff’s deputies were the first on scene, locating the vehicle in the median with all airbags deployed. Inside the vehicle were an elderly man, a woman in her 20s, and a two-year-old child—all with reported injuries.
Lovelock ambulance 902 was dispatched at 8:04 a.m., but had to be requested a second time at 8:09 before going en route at approximately 8:10. By 8:12, deputies had requested a second ambulance, a medical helicopter, and animal control for the family dog.
Ambulance 902 arrived at 8:18 a.m., followed by ambulance 901 at 8:20. All patients were loaded and transported to Pershing General Hospital by 8:32 a.m.
The Nevada State Police (NSP) were notified early in the incident, but the responding trooper was approximately 35 minutes away at the time of the call. NSP arrived on scene at 8:57 a.m. and took over the investigation. Sheriff and Sergeant units cleared the scene just after 9:30 a.m.
The medical helicopter landed at Pershing General Hospital at 9:21 a.m. The condition of the patients has not been released as of press time.
