The Lovelock Paiute Tribe will bring health services, education, and a unique hands-on emergency medical demonstration to the community during its upcoming Health Fair on Friday, May 22.
As part of the event, Elmhurst Avenue will be closed from Western Avenue to 12th Street from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., according to a notice issued by the City of Lovelock. Residents are encouraged to plan alternate travel routes and expect heavier than normal vehicle and foot traffic throughout the area during the day.
One of the featured highlights of the health fair will be a live landing by a Battle Born Air Rescue medical helicopter on Elmhurst Avenue between 11th and 12th streets. The helicopter demonstration is intended to provide public education and give community members an up-close look at emergency medical response operations.
The event is expected to offer health-related resources, community outreach, and educational opportunities while also giving families and children the chance to learn more about emergency services in a safe and supervised environment.
City officials are reminding the public to follow all posted barricades and directions from safety personnel during the helicopter demonstration. Community members are also being asked to keep children and pets close, avoid approaching the aircraft unless directed by emergency crews, and secure loose items that could be affected by strong rotor winds during landing and takeoff.
Officials noted the helicopter could be called away at any time if an emergency response is needed elsewhere.
The City of Lovelock and event organizers thanked residents for their patience and cooperation as preparations continue for what is expected to be a well-attended community event.
