Construction of the Lovelock Post Office was completed in 1938, adding one of the town’s most significant public buildings to the downtown area. The structure was the first federally constructed building in Lovelock, reflecting the community’s growing regional importance during the late 1930s.
Historic photographs taken before the building’s completion show the developing downtown landscape. In this image, a man wearing a hat can be seen sitting on the corner of what is now Main Street and Cornell Avenue, in front of the current location of Nanny Joe’s.
The construction of the post office marked another milestone in Lovelock’s development, reinforcing its role as a central service hub for Pershing County.
